Ayahuasca vine and fossil stromatolite macrame necklace

Sale price$50.00

These elegant boho-style necklaces feature a lacquered cross-section of the ayahuasca vine above a pendant of fossilized stromatolite stone embedded in a macrame waxed thread necklace. Ayahuasca is used by many Amazon shamans in traditional ceremonies.  Stromatolites are a sedimentary rock formed over millennia by the growth of layers of a single-cell microbe. The necklace was made by an expert artisan from Iquitos who has worked with the Center for Amazon Community Ecology for ten years.

The necklace comes in two styles.  One style (NK68STAL) features a large round (1 1/4" diameter) stone with one pair of stone beads above the ayahuasca piece (3/4" diameter).  The second variety (NK68STC) has a tear drop shaped stone (3/4" wide and 1 1/8" tall) with two pairs of stone beads above the ayahuasca.  Each necklace has a waxed twine with two knots that allow easy adjustment of the length to fit it over your head and then tighten.

Please remember that each stone piece is unique so the pattern will vary from the one featured in this product's main photo.

Model: NK068P43 (brown); NK068P42 (grey)

Support native artisans
& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
