This unique fair-trade Amazon Guitar Strap was hand-made by a native artisan from the Ampiyacu region of the Peruvian Amazon. This strap is sturdy, comfortable and flexible. It is woven from two-inch wide chambira palm fiber attached to a quality brass-plated buckle so its length can be adjusted from 45 to 55 inches to fit the guitarist’s style and height. Both ends are tightly sewn to a black leather tab that snugly fits over a standard folk or electric guitar strap button. This is a perfect strap for musicians who want to show their appreciation and support for native culture and the environment.
The Anaconda model is based on a traditional pattern of the Bora natives for this large snake that lives in the rivers and forest of the Amazon. They come in five combinations of colors. The black, white and red model has the initials EB on it in honor of the Ska band English Beat whose leader Dave Wakeling proposed this design.
Each strap comes with a tag listing the artisan's name and community and the plants they used to make it. Some straps whose colors have slightly faded from long sun exposure at festivals are also available at a reduced price.
