PUFFIN AND BLACK SKIMMER - BIRD FAIR-TRADE CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS - WOVEN BY PERUVIAN AMAZON ARTISAN

Sale price$20.00

These unique fair-trade ornaments represent two birds that feed on ocean fish near the shore.  The Atlantic puffin can dive into the water and come up with a beak-full of fish.

We also have a few ornaments representing the black skimmer which flies just above the water with the longer lower part of its beak barely submerged to catch little fish near the surface. They will be great additions to a Christmas tree, rear-view mirror or mantle of any ocean bird loving person.

These ornaments were woven with chambira palm fiber by a native Amazon artisan. The sale of these ornaments supports forest conservation and helps meet local needs in traditional communities in Peru. These bird ornaments were made artisans from the village on the Maranon River.

Each ornament comes with a tag listing the name and home of the artisan who made it and the plants used to make it.

Please remember that each ornament was hand-made so the exact design of the craft may vary from the photo shown for this model.

Model: ORB112 (puffin), ORB125 (black skimmer)

& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
