Loose-weave chambira market bag - made by native artisans from the Peruvian Amazon
We have loose weave market bags made with naturally strong and off-white chambira palm fiber in two styles - round bottom and square bottom. They are so compact you could carry one in any pocket or several in a backpack so you will always have one handy for light shopping without the need to use any plastic bags. They are made by various native Bora and Huitoto native artisans from the twin villages of Puca Urquillo on the Ampiyacu River in the Peruvian Amazon.
Models: BG201 (round-bottom); BG202 (square-bottom)

Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
