Colorful toucan ceramic bird ocarinas from the Peruvian Amazon

Sale price$20.00

These handmade ceramic toucan ocarinas are small decorative folk instruments shaped and hand-painted in a classic toucan form. They come in fanciful bright color combinations, with purple, green, and red dominant varieties available. These colorways are artistic interpretations and do not represent specific toucan species.

Each ocarina is individually shaped, fired, and hand-painted by artisans in Peru. The instrument can produce simple flute-like tones: your thumbs control the holes on the bottom, while your other fingers regulate the four holes on top. A simple cord can be attached to the loop for hanging, carrying, or display.

Because each piece is handmade, colors, markings, size, sound, and tuning may vary. These ocarinas are decorative folk instruments and handmade artisan collectibles, not precision-tuned concert instruments.

Recommended for adult collectors, bird lovers, and music enthusiasts. Not intended as a toy or for use by young children.

Made by local artisans from Padre Cocha in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon.

Support native artisans
& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
