Chonta and chontaquiro small wood serving bowls - hand made by Peruvian Amazon artisan
These elegant bowls were hand-carved by Peruvian Amazon artisans with chonta palm and chontaquiro wood. Both woods have a deep walnut brown lustre with an extra feature of the chonta being fine dark veins.
The chonta bowls were carved in the shape of a leaf. Its dimensions are 7 inches long, 3.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall.
Chontaquiro, also known as black huayruru is a member of the diverse bean family. Its crafts include a rounded rectangle (5.0 x 3.75 x 1.6 inches), an oval (6.0 x 3.75 x 1.6 inches), and octagon (4" across, 1.75 inches tall).
Each bowl has a unique natural pattern of blended dark and lighter colored wood so each individual bowl will vary from the photo show for its model.

Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
