Black striped Round-bottom Shoulder Palm Fiber Bags made in the Peruvian Amazon

Sale price$40.00

These handmade, boho style shoulder bags were hand-woven with natural chambira palm fiber by a native artisan from the community of Puca Urquillo on the Ampiyacu River in the Peruvian Amazon.

These bags are great to shop in a outdoor market or to take a good book and suntan lotion to the beach. They are also great as an everyday purse, roomy and comfortable to wear.

Our two models feature black, green, and red stripes and black, dark yellow and maroon stripes.  Both models are 12 inches across, 8 inches tall and an 8 inch diameter across the bottom.  There is a clasp in the middle of the top to secure it closed. The 36 inch long strap can be comfortably worn over a shoulder or across the chest.

A tag lists the artisan's name and community and the plants they used to make it. Please note that each handmade bag may vary from the photo shown.

Support native artisans
& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
