Tagua Palm Nut Disk Earrings with Quill Dangles

Sale price$20.00

These chic earrings featuring a polished disk of tagua nut show off a blend of jungle essence and a range of natural and fun colors.  The nut of the tagua palm tree is both strong and has a silky off-white color.  These characteristics are the origin of its alternate name of vegetable ivory because it can sometimes be substituted for products made from the tusks of beleaguered elephants.

The tagua disks in these earrings are 3/4" in diameter and come in natural off-white, turquoise, dark pink and purple.  All have dangles made from pieces of white and brown quill and flattened silver wire diamonds.  Each natural and dyed tagua model comes with a choice of a black achira or a naturally orange and black huayruru seed.

These earrings are made by an expert artisan from Iquitos who has worked with the Center for Amazon Community Ecology for ten years.  The French hooks are made with non-allergenic material.

Please remember that these handmade crafts may vary from the photos shown.

Support native artisans
& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
