Parrot Balsa Wood Earrings - made by artisans from the Peruvian Amazon

Sale price$18.00

These fun earrings feature the patterns of several types of parrots from the Amazon rainforest.  These  iconic colorful and local  fruit-eating birds have been carved from lightweight balsa so the wearer can show their connection to the biggest jungle in the world. A small huayruru seed above the bird adds another authentic touch of the forest.

These earrings are made by an expert artisan from Iquitos who has worked with the Center for Amazon Community Ecology for ten years.  The French hooks are made with non-allergenic material.

Support native artisans
& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
